Here’s a game that I made up for Alive@5 on the theme of saying sorry and forgiveness. It’s designed for a mixed group of parents and primary school age children.

Sit in a circle. A volunteer stands in the middle – they are the spinning pointer. This person closes their eyes and spins around and then stops and points at someone in the circle. The person in the centre then chooses and reads aloud a SITUATION CARD (Child Situation if its a child, Parent Situation if its a parent). The person who they’re pointing at then takes a RESPONSE CARD and says the response or does the action on the card (we had an adult there helping the child to understand it if needed).

Those around the circle then give a thumbs up or thumbs down, depending on whether they think the response is helpful or unhelpful. There was then opportunity to discuss it, particularly if the reaction was mixed. The “pointee” then becomes the pointer for the next turn
