ey Craig, We have met a few times but I doubt you would remember me.
My name is Chris Waddell and I am candidate for Minister of the Word with the Uniting Church. I am also the youth worker at North Ringwood Uniting Church where our paths have crossed
I was wondering if you could help me out.
I am doing a research Capstone looking at what is the responsibility of the local church in infant baptism.
I am interested in what we do as a church for families wanting the uniting church to baptise their child, especially for families that might not be regular church attendees.
I am intrigued by the line in the basis of union
The Uniting Church will baptize those who confess the Christian faith, and children who are presented for baptism and for whose instruction and nourishment in the faith the Church takes responsibility.
How do churches live up the end of the line that we take responsibility in the ‘instruction and nourishment of faith’
Looking at catechisms for both pre-baptism and post baptism.
I am not too sure if we do this well or if we could do it better.
I was wondering if the uniting church has any resources for families on the catechisms for infants, children and families for Baptisms (both pre and post baptism)
Do you know what materials churches use for this.
any help or resources that you can give would be great
Like the Belonging booklet
Chris, yes I know who you are and I reckon I spotted you in at CTM the other day! Let’s chat! People at NRUC and CTM have my contact details or can send me yours. Peace.
